Set-Up Information
Tool "D" (above centerline) Set FB is deflected to position "DF" relieving the load by deflecting to a smallerbore, FA. Tool "D" cannot "dig in" because the cut (load) becomes lighter as it deflects. Tool "E" (on centerline or below) Set at FB "digs in" and is deflected toward position "EF" and bore FC. The larger the load, the larger the deflection.
Set-Up Information
Built in geometries of CIRCLE PRECISION BORING BARS is based on the concept that the boring bar shank and or tool holder will always be positioned on the machine spindle centerline. The cutting point will be slightly high (against direction of rotation) except when facing to centerline or cutting on outside diameters.
TIPS: USE CIRCLE PRECISION SET-UP LEVEL OR:
  1. Use center height gage and position insert as show in illustration to the left.
  2. If center point is unavailable, mark the center of the bar stock with a centering punch or square. Position the insert as shown in illustration to the left.
  3. Laying a straight edge on the insert will help in positioning the insert parallel to the travel or centerline.
NOTE: In some cases, to help reduce chatter and or taper, the insert may need to be rotated less than 0.010" but, more than 0.002" above center.

2. Depth of Cut
3. Feed Rate
4. R.P.M. (Revolutions per Minute)
5. Cutting Tool Geometries
6. Insert Radius
